Functional Integration Through Process Expertise

We turn extrusion, pultrusion, injection molding, and our in-house unit for stamped and bent parts into cost-effective manufacturing solutions. We often combine these processes inline to create a seamless production flow. We also automate assembly and testing procedures in our in-house custom machine shop. In addition to functional testing, we typically test dimensional accuracy, insert positioning, electrical properties, leak tightness, surface quality, insertion and holding forces, and traceability using camera-based systems, and we document the quality data.

Battery Components from OKE

Technological Diversity Around the World

With the production of battery components, we have expanded our portfolio in recent years to include a core technological area that complements our existing industrialization expertise perfectly. While the engineering and prototyping phases take place centrally in Germany, the flexible international rollout ensures cost-efficient production directly in our customers’ global target markets.

Large-scale injection molding: Our XL plastic components protect battery modules and sensitive electronics from mechanical stress, moisture, and contamination. They combine low weight with high functionality and easy installation.
We manufacture spacers, holders, and positioning elements for the precise and secure mounting of battery cells with extremely tight tolerances. Our components play a key role in ensuring reliable assembly as well as the performance and service life of the battery system. One of our specialties is the combination of extrusion and injection molding, which allows us to cost-effectively integrate profiles with functional elements in a continuous process.
Protective and reinforcing components enhance the safety of battery modules and packs when subjected to mechanical stress. Thanks to their energy-absorbing and insulating properties, they help protect cells, electronics, and vehicle occupants. The physical foaming of plastics is also part of our daily routine.

Depending on the component, we manufacture plastic components for cooling, insulation, and electrical routing using plastics, metal inserts, and films. The processing of high-performance plastics with specialized functions is one of our key areas of expertise. We offer sophisticated tooling technologies and automation solutions—all from a single source.

Components for cell contact systems (CCS), busbars and busbar assemblies, connector housings, cable management solutions, and insulation and fastening elements. We combine electrical functionality, mechanical stability, and efficient assembly into cost-effective mass-production solutions for demanding applications in electromobility.

Metals, plastics, automation

Board electronics

We supply our international customers with a broad product portfolio for on-board electronics. This includes both simple individual parts and complex assemblies. Our core competencies include connectors in the high-voltage sector as well as the overmoulding of contacts and the integration of seals.

Thermal management

We have been processing metals for over 100 years – and combining metals and plastics for many decades. Our experience with this combination of materials forms the basis for the production of components for thermal management.

Hybrid components

Lightweight, sturdy, and functionally integrated: Hybrid components made of metal and plastic combine the advantages of both materials. We manufacture stamped and bent parts in-house, while we source contact and conductor structures from selected technology partners worldwide and integrate them reliably into assemblies.

Plastics

Where technically appropriate, we deliberately rely on proven commodity plastics. However, in the battery sector, we use high-performance engineering or high-performance compounds. We have extensive experience in the selection, development, and processing of sophisticated material systems with fiber reinforcements and functional additives for thermal conductivity, flame retardancy, or electrical properties.

Together with our material partners, we develop application-specific solutions that meet both the technical requirements and the economic objectives of our customers.

Interdisciplinary technologies

Integrating metal components into the injection molding process is our daily bread. In our in-house stamping shop, we produce precision-fit metal inserts and outserts, which we then feed into the mold fully automatically. We also consider direct thermal joining during series production planning. With this approach, the metal component and the pre-molded part are heated separately and welded together, for example using induction heating or high-rate ceramic heating elements.

To increase the bond strength through close interlocking of metal and plastic, we can also perform pretreatment techniques such as laser structuring and plasma processes directly in-house.

Automations

Due to the miniaturization of electronic components, the need for increased efficiency, and the rising production volumes of highly integrated functional components, cost-effective manufacturing processes are in greater demand than ever.

We excel at managing complex, multi-layered production processes. This expertise is critical to the success of efficient mass production of combined hybrid components. Even highly integrated functional components are manufactured efficiently by us using fully automated production and testing processes.
