In IT, we support all OKE locations worldwide. I work flexitime, so I can take advantage of time differences – on the other hand, I can also simply stay at home a little longer in the morning.

We are ›furniture developers‹ with heart and soul. As a team, we often advise customers directly on site. And even when Ralph is out and about visiting customers on his own as a sales representative, we stay in close contact. With video calls, we even develop products together when there are several kilometers between us.

For visitors, I am the first face or the first voice on the phone. I make sure that everyone finds their contact person. But I also coordinate many other processes here at reception. For example, I organize the language courses for our employees or the use of our pool vehicles.

Workstations

About 70 percent of our workforce works in the production environment. High-quality work clothes, sufficient occupational health and safety as well as good lighting conditions and controlled temperatures play a major role here.

We equip the workstations in our offices with height-adjustable desks, laptops, multiple monitors, high-quality headsets and a comprehensive software package (Office365) as required.

And for the sake of completeness: coffee machines and water dispensers at central points in production and administration can be used by everyone.

Diversity

Teamwork is our top priority. We place particular emphasis on treating one another fairly and interacting as equals, which we underscore by using the informal ›Du‹. We offer this to everyone who wants to get involved and learn more. Because we believe the greatest potential for the development of us all lies in the diversity of our personalities.

Health

For us, occupational health management has always been more than just exercise balls and nutrition tips. Whether in the company gym or in partnership with an external gym, exercise is a welcome change from the daily work routine. Body and mind are thankful when we use the workout equipment, attend fitness classes, get out the mountain bikes, play basketball or volleyball, jog together—all with professional support from our on-site health managers if needed. They have the expertise when it comes to individual training plans, physiotherapy or injury prevention. And of course they have a few nutrition tips at hand if needed.

Continuing education

Admittedly, we love changes. They have made us successful. At the same time, economic success also ensures our personal development. Our continuing education programs help you take the next steps. Whether technical or product training, English for apprentices or management training, internal and external trainers regularly open up new perspectives for us. We are currently expanding the range of digital forms of learning on a large scale.

Development prospects

The OKE Group consists of a total of 16 individual companies that combine, complement, and expand their areas of expertise in a highly effective manner. Our locations in Germany and around the world—from Brazil to Vietnam—offer a wide range of career opportunities. You can advance from one department to another, move between locations, or even work abroad. Many possibilities are open to you; we just need to talk about them.

Pool vehicles

Our extensive fleet now includes 40 electric vehicles—and that number is growing. This saves fuel and is fun, especially for our carpools in production. We provide them with a car free of charge for their shared commute.

Children's Aid

OKE Kinderhilfe collects and coordinates donations from employees in order to provide meaningful help on a larger scale. The money goes entirely to our projects. Our goal: helping people to help themselves, especially in education, and to give as many children as possible in developing countries a chance to live and work well.

Sustainability

With our large photovoltaic farm at the Hörstel site, we were among the pioneers promoting the use of solar energy in companies. A lot has happened since then! It is not only the charging points for our e-fleet that contribute to increasing our sustainability but also over 200 individual measures, such as the switch to LED lamps, the use of modern cooling and compressed air systems, heat recovery, recycling and much more.

Frequently asked questions

The easiest way to do this is through our job portal at jobs.oke.de/eng. Using the application forms available there makes the process quick and easy. Just take a look, apply, and you’re all set.

The length of the selection process depends largely on the position being filled. Generally speaking, our goal is for the entire process—from the time you submit your application to the time you receive our decision (hopefully a positive one)—to take no longer than four weeks on average.

To help us assess how well your experience and knowledge align with the role, we would appreciate it if you could provide the following documents:

  • A cover letter in which we can get to know you briefly and informally. Tell us something about what drives you, where you feel completely in your element, in short: what you are particularly good at.
  • a CV that tells us something about what you’ve done up until now.
  • If applicable, your most recent reference if you have not had much opportunity to gain work experience to date (for example, as a graduate or career starter).

You should submit a cover letter and CV in any case, this is the fastest way to move forward in the application process.

The most exciting moment is certainly the first personal meeting. This can initially take place over the phone or via Teams, or live and in color. A little stage fright is part of it, but don’t worry, it will be a good conversation:

  • We speak openly and relaxed with each other. That’s important to us, because believe it or not, we’re a bit tense too. After all, we’re talking about a possible path together.
  • Of course, we also have a few specific questions to ask. We take a potential-oriented approach. That means we’d like to focus on discussing your strengths and what we can achieve together.
  • Don’t worry about what to wear. While we appreciate it when people dress appropriately out of respect for the occasion, what matters most to us is that you feel comfortable.

Just ask us! We’re sure you’re just as curious as we are. Don’t hold back—we won’t either.

We are planning a total of two meetings.

During our first meeting, we’d like to get to know you. We may also speak with colleagues from the department where you’d like to work.

An encounter like that leaves a lasting impression, so we’ll reflect on our conversation afterward—and I’m sure you will, too. If we feel like we’re a good fit, we’ll move on to the next step.

During our second interview, we’d like to get to know you even better. To do this, you’ll fill out a questionnaire and learn about our health and safety guidelines. Afterward, you’ll meet your future team—after all, it’s important that we’re a good fit.

After this second round, we’ll make our decision. And you’ll know whether you’ve found the right job or not. Ideally, we’ll give you a call and schedule an appointment to discuss the contract.

In the course of time

Our history

A company with a history and a future! OKE is a forward-looking company. Especially in the last few years, a lot has changed in our company. We have grown steadily, integrated new technologies and gained many new employees. But we also have a tradition. Because we have been around since 1961!

Under the name OKE, Osnabrücker Kunststoff-Erzeugnisse, Rainer von der Heyde founds a company that sells plastic products for the furniture industry and later manufactures them himself.

Year of entry of Thomas Tillner.

With the patent application of the OKE retractable rod, OKE becomes a supplier to the automotive industry.

In addition to extrusion for the manufacture of plastic profiles, injection moulding technology is making its way into production.

Foundation of OKE Kunststofftechnik in Lichtenfels. One year later move to Ummerstadt.

The OKE South Africa production site is opened in Cape Town. Due to our irrigation system, production facilities become more and more limited in the following years, so that we are now housed in a large area in our new building in Paarl.

The OKE Tillner Perfis Portugal production site is opened in Abrantes.

Relocation of the headquarters from Lotte (near Osnabrück) to Hörstel in Westphalia.

OKE launches OKE Children’s Aid. It supports projects in Sri Lanka, India and South Africa.

The OKE Plastic China production site is opened in Zhangjiagang. We now work there in a completely newly renovated building. The Asian region is also now consulted and supplied via service points and logistics locations in Korea.

The production site OKE Plastic SK, s.r.o. is opened in Trebatice.

The OKE do Brasil production site is opened in Curitiba.

The company KKF Fels from Goslar is integrated into the OKE Group. At the beginning of 2013, KKF moves into another building in Goslar, which offers more space for the entire injection moulding area after extensive renovation.

The OKE Group celebrates its 50th anniversary!

Through the acquisition of Döring Werkzeugbau, we have greatly expanded and consolidated our capabilities in the development and design of injection moulds.

The Alhorn company in Lübbecke is taken over by the OKE Group. With an additional new building in Lübbecke and a further plant in Hörstel, Alhorn expands faster than any other company within the OKE Group.

At our second site in Goslar, completely refurbished and converted for pultrusion, we now produce fibre-reinforced profiles using our own patented manufacturing process.

At the beginning of 2017, the OKE Group takes over the company Trimatec from Nordwalde.

At the end of 2017, the OKE Group takes over its second company within a year. Schultz Schlafkultur from Osnabrück is now part of the group.

Wilhelm Schröder GmbH is taken over by the OKE Group. This further expands our strengths in hybrid technology.

New construction of the technical centre at our main site in Hörstel.

Quick to respond to help: OKE has also been producing mouth-nose masks since the COVID-19 crisis.

In Vietnam, we are opening another Asian production site.

The acquisition of Global Enterprises complements our international locations: we now also have our own production facilities in the USA and Romania!
