Precision in perfection

Alhorn stands for the strategic development and precise production of components in 2K and multi-component injection moulding. However, we also manufacture 1K components with high standards of precision and efficiency. Whether 2K injection molding, 3K or just one material: we cover the entire process chain right through to quality-tested series production. We also integrate inserts such as contacts, threads, and other ultra-fine inserts in perfect precision injection molding.

Working together as equals is particularly important to us. Discussions with our customers often result in ideas that go far beyond the initial approach, as we can integrate additional functions, save on raw materials, or increase speed and precision by fully integrating automation and assembly equipment through to the perfect turnkey solution.

The boundaries are open and constantly readjusted during the production process, especially for 2K and multi-component parts or assemblies, in order to achieve the best result. Our precision injection molding remains the focus.

Plastic-metal composite technologies for electromechanical and electronic systems

With our expertise, we at Alhorn are the experts for electromechanical assemblies that are used as small, lightweight, and compact components, especially in the automotive industry. For our customers in the electrical and sensor technology sectors, we manufacture – often fully automated – delicate precision parts through efficient reel-to-reel injection molding, where we feed stamping grids directly from a spool into the injection molding tool, overmold them with functional elements, and then rewind them. Depending on requirements, we also combine upstream and downstream separation and bending tools as well as various test procedures, fully automatically with systems from our own special-purpose machine engineering department. We also use the insert method for contact elements, where the insert parts are usually automatically fed to the tool.

Both processes have one thing in common:

For applications in vehicle electronics or electrical engineering, we primarily use high-performance plastics that guarantee a long service life even in extreme environments in terms of mechanical, chemical, or thermal stress.

Over 40 years of expertise in the design, manufacture, and procurement of complex injection molding tools.

In our series production, highly sophisticated molds using the transfer process, turning technology, and indexing processes with up to 128 cavities are part of our everyday work. However, we not only take care of the design and procurement of new injection molding tools, but we are also happy to take on existing tools and projects into our production. A detailed tool assessment and possible repair by our specialised and well-equipped maintenance department are firmly anchored in this process. Please do not hesitate to contact us!

We take a closer look!

Our laboratory specializes in damage analysis, process optimisation, incoming goods inspection, and the quality control of finished components during production. Our analysis techniques include, for example:

  • The determination of the viscosity number according to ISO 1628/5 and ISO 307
  • A residual moisture analysis using Aquatrac
  • FTIR spectroscopy using the ATR method
  • Dynamic differential calorimetry according to ISO 11357-1/-2/-3
  • Fiber analysis of long fiber-reinforced thermoplastics
  • and customer-specific analyses!

Precision injection molding

We specialize in high-precision, hybrid plastic components with a focus on electrical components and assemblies. These include actuators and plug contacts, stamped grids, electromagnetic valves, sensors, the insertion of ELO pins, connections, and control systems. The particularly precise connection of metal inserts with (high-performance) plastics always plays a role here.

Design and simulations

There are many paths from the initial briefing to the finished product. We look at the entire process and advise on everything from simple handling to fully automated, multi-stage processes. Our special-purpose machine engineering department also supports us with solutions that increase efficiency, guarantee quality in a traceable manner, and integrate upstream and downstream processes.

Our industries

bild

Our precision plastic products are mainly used in the electronics and powertrain sectors. Our international customers in these industries appreciate our high level of precision and our fully or partially automated production processes.

Optimal throughput times, efficient processes, flexible component assembly, and state-of-the-art machinery ensure first-class products and the highest quality.

The electronics industry places very special demands on plastic components. The focus is on electrical and mechanical properties such as insulation or strength behavior, flexibility or stiffness. But optical properties must not be disregarded either.

We always keep all individual requirements in mind and ensure efficient processes and high-precision plastic and hybrid components with our know-how and state-of-the-art machinery.

In particular, our product portfolio includes plugs and connectors.

As a competent technology partner and thanks to our many years of experience in the automotive industry, we produce high-precision and technically sophisticated injection molded parts in the white goods sector.

We are familiar with high temperatures and chemical and mechanical stresses, so we are also able to provide advice on materials, design, and cost optimisation.

As part of an international group of companies, we offer ideal conditions to efficiently serve the household appliances market. With uniform processes, we guarantee high quality, flexibility and short delivery times worldwide.
