Multi-component injection molding

Functional integrations through directly connected moulded parts

The resulting components combine the properties of even the most diverse materials. They reduce or avoid assembly and rework processes and setup times, and if components are reduced, expenses for quality inspections are reduced as well. At the same time, we integrate functions, combine product properties and reduce material and component weights.

Hybrid components are also produced in the OKE Group as metal-plastic composites or as fibre composite components, which we present under the navigation item Hybrid Components at OKE.

Benefits of multi-component parts

  • Time saving through shortened cycle times and a consistent manufacturing process.
  • Creation of clear clean edges as the melts come together in the same tool in an optimised flow and cool completely together – they adhere to each other but do not run between each other.
  • Burrs on the second component are virtually impossible since – especially when compared with overmoulding – the polymer is still warm and has not yet shrunk.
  • Clean surfaces with good molecular adhesion.
